Document vault

A financial document organizer for the papers that matter.

Keep insurance policies, bank statements, property papers, tax documents and investment statements in one private vault — organized by category and linked to the accounts they belong to.

When you need a document, you usually need it quickly.

A hospital asks for your health policy number. Your bank wants three years of ITR acknowledgements for a home loan. A family member needs the nominee details on an FD.

Those moments are stressful enough without digging through email attachments, WhatsApp forwards, a downloads folder and a drawer of paper files. A financial document organizer turns that search into a few taps.

What to keep in your financial document vault

Organize documents by category so you can find them by what they are, not where they came from.

Insurance policies

Health, term, life and motor policy documents, renewal notices and claim paperwork.

Bank statements

Account statements, FD receipts and interest certificates for each bank you use.

Property documents

Sale agreements, registration papers, property tax receipts and home loan sanction letters.

Tax documents

Form 16, ITR acknowledgements, tax-saving investment proofs and advance tax challans.

Investment statements

Mutual fund Consolidated Account Statements, demat holdings, PPF passbooks and NPS statements.

Loan documents

Loan agreements, repayment schedules and no-objection certificates once a loan is closed.

Documents linked to your accounts

In Finotop, a document isn't just a file in a folder. Link it to the account it relates to and it stays connected to the rest of your financial picture.

  • Attach a policy document to the insurance policy it belongs to
  • Keep the sanction letter and repayment schedule next to your home loan
  • Store the FD receipt alongside the deposit and its maturity reminder
  • Add a category and a clear name so documents are easy to scan

Secure financial document storage

Private by default.

Financial documents contain some of your most sensitive information. The vault is designed so that only you can reach them.

  • Never public

Uploaded files are stored in private storage and are not accessible through public links.

  • Time-limited access

When you open a document, Finotop generates a short-lived secure link that expires shortly after.

  • Encrypted

Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest.

  • Tied to your account

Documents are only available after you sign in, and only to the account that uploaded them.

A simple way to organize financial documents

  1. Start with what's hardest to replace. Property papers, insurance policies and loan agreements first; monthly statements can come later.
  2. Use consistent names. A pattern like “Institution – Document – Year” (for example, “HDFC – Home loan sanction letter – 2024”) makes documents easy to scan.
  3. Link each document to its account. Then the policy, the premium reminder and the policy document all live together.
  4. Add tax documents every year. Upload Form 16 and your ITR acknowledgement as soon as you file, while you remember where they are.
  5. Review once a year. Remove documents for closed accounts you no longer need and check that current policies are up to date.

Document vault questions

Which financial documents should I keep in one place?

Insurance policies, bank and loan statements, property documents, tax documents such as Form 16 and ITR acknowledgements, investment statements, fixed deposit receipts and any other paperwork you would need during a claim, a loan application or tax filing.

Can I link a document to a financial account?

Yes. A document can be linked to the related account, for example a policy document to the insurance policy it belongs to, so it's easy to find when you need it.

Who can see my uploaded documents?

Documents are private to your Finotop account. They are never publicly accessible, and files open through secure, time-limited links while you are signed in.

Does the AI assistant read my documents?

Not currently. The AI assistant answers questions using the structured information you have added, such as accounts, values and reminders. It does not read the contents of uploaded documents.

Should I still keep the original documents?

Yes. Finotop helps you organize digital copies, but keep originals such as property papers and policy documents safely, as required by the issuing institution.
